Celebrate Foster Care Awareness Month by Becoming a Monthly Donor!

May is Foster Care Awareness Month, a time to raise awareness about the challenges and resilience of youth in and aging out of foster care.

At Foster Forward, we understand how difficult it can be for young people to transition into adulthood without a support system. Too many exit care without access to safe housing, guidance, or mental health services. Jamirah was one of them.

Jamirah first connected with Foster Forward in 2016 while living in a group home. Years later, while studying to become a nurse, she found herself overwhelmed and struggling to keep up. That’s when she reached back out to Foster Forward.

With the support of our team, Jamirah accessed counseling, financial coaching, and housing assistance. These resources helped her stay on track and achieve her goal of becoming a registered nurse.

“Without this program, I don’t know where I’d be. I probably wouldn’t have finished school. I’d probably be homeless. It’s a lot of probabilities, but all that went out the window when I truly became a part of Foster Forward.”

Jamirah’s story is a powerful reminder of what can happen when young people receive consistent, reliable support over time.

This Foster Care Awareness Month, we invite you to take action by becoming a monthly donor. Your ongoing support helps ensure that youth like Jamirah have access to the services and relationships they need to succeed. It allows us to show up when it matters most.

You can also hear Jamirah share her story in her own words:

Thank you for supporting youth during Foster Care Awareness Month. Together, we can help more young people build a strong foundation for the future.
